# Funeral Casework

Funeral Casework will be case management software for funeral directors in the UK. One record per death will carry a case from the first call to the final invoice: the family will enter the details themselves, every outstanding wait will show how long it has been open, and the forms will be generated from what is already recorded.

Three cases will be free with no card. After that, cases will be bought in prepaid packs, from £10.00 a case down to £6.50. Users will be unlimited at every pack size.

## One record per death

A case will open on the first call with four facts: who died, where they are, who is calling, and a contact number. The rest of the record will be filled in later.

The case will then move through first call, in care, arranging, awaiting paperwork, confirmed, service, aftercare and closed. Every other screen will be a view over that one record - the day's cases, the people in the firm's care, the diary, the documents and the money.

## The family will enter their own details

The arranger will send a link by text or email. There will be no account and no password.

The family will fill in the details at home, in their own time, with the relatives who know the answers - the birthplace, the occupation, the parents' names. Each section will save as it is filled, and can be left and resumed. Several relatives will be able to hold the same link.

The arrangement meeting will then be a review of what is already recorded.

## Every wait will show its age in days

A funeral date depends on paperwork held by people outside the firm. Funeral Casework will record each outstanding wait as its own item, carrying who it is waiting for, when it was last chased, and how many days it has been open.

Waits will group by who is being chased rather than by case, so three cases waiting for the same registrar will be one phone call.

## Forms will be generated from the record

The statutory forms, and the firm's own estimate and contract, will be filled from the case record. They will be signed on the arranger's tablet at the meeting, or remotely by the family on their own phone.

## The price list will drive the estimate and the invoice

The firm's price list will be entered once, in the structure the Competition and Markets Authority requires funeral directors to publish. Selecting items from it will produce the itemised estimate, and then the invoice. Disbursements will be recorded separately from the firm's own charges.

One credit will cover one funeral.

No VAT will be added to these prices.

The rules:

-   Three cases will be free on signup, with no card.
-   One credit will be used when a case is created.
-   Credits will never expire, so a month with no funerals will cost nothing.
-   Deleting a case within 24 hours will return its credit.
-   An overdraft of three cases means a funeral will never be delayed by a credit balance.
-   Top-ups will happen automatically after the first purchase, and can be switched off.
-   Every feature will be included at every pack size. Pack size will be the only variable.
-   Users will be unlimited.
-   Data will be exportable at any time.

## England and Wales first

The paperwork at launch will be the England and Wales set: the medical certificate of cause of death, medical examiner scrutiny, coroner release, registration, the green form, cremation Form 1, the crematorium booking and certified copies.

Scotland and Northern Ireland certify and register deaths differently, and their form sets will follow.
